So this past week we were in the studio to record bass with my wonderfully talented friend Ryan Jacobson! We worked on 9 of the 10 songs, and as always Ryan did a fantastic job and did not disappoint. Ryan also recorded the acoustic guitar on the album, he is such an amazing versatile musician.

Well we’re two weeks into recording now. So far so good! I’m learning that life with a babe flies by even more quickly than without. Hard to believe Asher is almost 2 months old already! We have been working on acoustic guitar bed tracks, and have 9 out of 10 done! The more we work on these songs, and the more I sing the lyrics the more I realize how thematic this album is turning out to be. Prairie Belle was a collection of songs I had had ready to record for so long from so many different times in my life, while Tree of Life is going to be a lot of newer songs, all falling into the theme of different seasons of life. I didn’t even necessarily mean for it to be that way, so I’m really enjoying watching these songs unfold.

So it has been a WHILE (understatement) since my last blog. If I remember correctly (meaning.. I just browsed back to my last blog to refresh my poorly functioning baby brain) my last blog was about a foodie pen pal program I had just joined. And before that.. a brief blog about being pregnant. Well today marks 4 weeks since my precious little boy Asher Lewis Evangelos was born (and he came 2 weeks early, so 2 weeks since my actual due date as well). 4 weeks have come and gone, can you believe it?! Literally it feels like the blink of an eye and yet it’s already hard to imagine life before Asher!

What is a Foodie Pen Pal you ask? Well, you can check out all the details on how to join here. This month is my very FIRST Foodie Pen Pal experience, and let me tell you it was really fun to be a part of. The premise is simple, you send a package and receive a package. You have $15 to spend on foodie goodies. I sent a package to a lovely lady named Natasha Melvin of The Canadian Domestic Wannabe from New Brunswick (who also happens to be 5 months pregnant like me!), and received from the beautiful Bibi Bailey of Bibi’s Culinary Journey Blog (love her name!) from the Okanagan Valley.
